The Secret to Higher Click-Through Rates (And Engaging Emails)
Hey, it's Jordan from the Email Intel Newsletter.
We’ve all seen it—emails packed with endless links, product photos, and CTAs that scream “click me!” everywhere.
Here’s the problem:
Too many options can paralyze your readers.
When there’s too much going on, people don’t know where to focus—so they don’t click anywhere.
If you want higher click-through rates (CTR), less is more.
Here’s how you can simplify your emails and get those clicks.
1. One Email, One Focus
Each email should have one main goal.
Do you want them to shop a new collection? Read a blog post? Enter a giveaway?
Whatever it is, focus your email around one clear action.
The fewer decisions they have to make, the easier it is for them to take that action.
2. Clear, Eye-Catching CTAs
Your call-to-action (CTA) button needs to stand out.
Use action-oriented language that tells them exactly what to do, like:
“Shop Now”
“Learn More”
“Grab Your Spot”
Or, even better, make it super specific:
“Boost Your Energy With [Product]”
“Start Burning Fat Today”
“Grab a Pair of Raw Denim Jeans”
And make sure it’s visually bold—your CTA should be hard to miss but easy to click.
Pro tip: Test your CTA placement.
Often, having it above the fold can make a big difference in click-throughs.
3. Use Engaging Visuals—But Don’t Overload
Visuals are key to drawing people in, but too many can clutter your email and confuse your message.
Choose one strong hero image that aligns with your CTA and supports the action you want them to take.
Example: If your goal is to get people to check out a new product…
Then a clean, high-quality image of the product in use is much more effective than filling the email with 5 different images.
Less is more!
4. Make it Scannable (Do This)
We all skim through emails, so make it easy for your readers to scan and find the important stuff.
Use short paragraphs, bullet points, graphics, charts, icons, and headers to break up the content.
If your email feels like a wall of text, they’re going to close it before they even read the first word.
If You Want To Drive More Clicks
Keep your emails focused
Keep your CTA clear
Keep your visuals simple
Keep your content scannable
The goal is to make it as easy as possible for your readers to understand what you want them to do, and then they’ll be much more likely to click.
Hope this helps,
Jordan
