Stop Letting Your Emails Get Unopened
Hey, it’s Jordan from the Email Intel Newsletter.
How many emails do you think the average person gets in a day?
It’s around 121.
Yep, every single day.
Now, imagine your carefully crafted email sitting in that pile—right next to an Amazon receipt and Aunt Karen’s forwarded chain letter…
How do you make sure it actually gets opened and read?
Here’s the secret:
Your email isn’t fighting other brands—it’s fighting distractions.
Between work emails, social media notifications, and a constant stream of promotional messages, your email has less than two seconds to grab attention.
So, how do you win?
Let me break it down:
Write Subject Lines That Demand Attention:
Your subject line is your first—and sometimes only—chance to stand out. Forget generic phrases like “We’ve Got a Sale.” Instead, aim for something unexpected and specific. Example: “This 5-Minute Fix Could Save You $50.”
A/B test your subject lines. Even small tweaks, like adding numbers or emojis, can make a huge difference.
Hook Them Immediately:
The opening line of your email needs to hit hard. Skip the fluff. Start with a story, a bold claim, or a question that sparks curiosity.
Be Clear and Direct:
People skim emails. Long sentences and complicated language lose readers. Focus on short, punchy lines that make your point clear.
Use bold key phrases, bullet points, easy-to-read graphics/charts and include plenty of white space.
Add a Human Touch:
People buy from people, not faceless companies. Write like you’re talking to a friend. Use conversational language, humor, and personality.
Example: Instead of “We’re offering a 10% discount,” try “Here’s 10% off—because you deserve it.”
Deliver Real Value:
Make every email worth the reader’s time. Whether it’s a tip, a story, or an exclusive offer, ensure there’s something valuable in it for them.
Example: “Here are 3 quick hacks to make your morning coffee taste like a $5 latte.”
Most emails fail because they don’t stand out.
But yours don’t have to.
Here’s what happens when you get it right:
Your subject line gets the open.
Your hook keeps them reading.
Your clear message gets them to click.
And that’s when the magic happens:
Sales, engagement, and loyalty.
